WOOFS! has an awesome staff. So who are these people who choose to spend their days with the dogs? This month we are featuring Carrie.
Carrie has been working at WOOFS!
for almost 7 years! In addition to being a Lead Trainer, she is our Class
Registrar and our Director of Operations. Carrie is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer
(CPDT-KA), a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT),
an Operation Socialization Certified Trainer (OSCT), and has her TAGteach
Primary Certification. Carrie says, "My favorite part of working at
WOOFS! is helping owners communicate with and understand their dogs. I love
teaching dogs to be well-mannered members of their home and families."
Carrie came to WOOFS! with an
extensive background in animal care and husbandry. For 9 years Carrie was an
Environmental Scientist specializing in water resource management, endangered
species surveys, vegetation surveys, and benthic macroinvertebrate surveys.
Carrie also had 7 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant and
Receptionist and 10 years experience as a rescue volunteer. Carrie has fostered
32 pit bulls throughout her life!
Carrie currently owns an 8 year old
Bully breed mix named Tugboat Willie, as well as a Meyer's Parrot named Maynard.
Carrie loves to take Tug and Maynard on hikes and has used a clicker to train
them both.
You can meet Carrie Monday through
Thursday afternoons at our Shirlington Campus or in classes ranging from Basic
Obedience through Advanced Obedience!
